Northern Mindanao is a proud producer of quality products and services that celebrate the creativity and heritage of its people. In varying stages of development, the OTOP's in the 8 cities and 85 municipalities of the region have identified their priority OTOP products - from raw and processed food, home style and living, condiments and spices, health and organic products, to local tourism development. Owing to its local traditions, the OTOP Program is a showcase of a town’s determination to a sustainable livelihood program that would provide income opportunities to the local people. The leadership of the local government units and the strong collaboration of the government agencies and other key stakeholders help in the development and sustainability of its OTOP projects. More than 60% of Northern Mindanao’s total land area are classified as forestland. Its seas abound with fish and other marine products. The region is the country’s third largest producer of corn and banana.
Northern Mindanao, Region X, Philippines
A progressive region, it is blessed with large tracts of land for agriculture industry, Natural wonders and large protected forests, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and sheltered baysteeming with aquatic life. It is accessible and strategic location for trade. It has five provinces (bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental), eight cities. 85 municipalities, and 2,020 barangays. The regional center is Cagayan de Oro City.
Region 10 has a total of four airports, three secondary airports and a trunk line airports. There are also a total of 13 seaports, three of which are private. Considered the most modern outside of Metro Manila, the port of Cagayan de Oro is classified as an international seaport.
Bukidnon provides the whole region with hydroelectric power and its telecommunication lowers connect Mindanao with the rest of the world.
